Each year, everyone seems to know someone who is graduating from high school or college. Graduation is a milestone in every person’s life and knowing what to say to the person when they graduate can be important. Following are some graduation quotations to help guide you in passing along words of wisdom.

American Poet Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail”. This is a great quote speakers at graduation commencement exercises should consider ending the ceremony with as students leave the school in search of their own destiny.

French Writer Anatole France said, “To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe”. A great quote from an even greater writer.

Author Winston Churchill said, “Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm”. If everyone did this, there would certainly be more successful people in this world.

Walt Disney once said, “All our dreams can come true….if we have the courage to pursue them”. Look at what Walt Disney did in his lifetime and how he will forever live on through the theme parks he created. People everywhere should know he believed in his dreams and also had the courage and determination to make them come true.

OAuthor and motivational speaker Wayne Dyer said, “Go for it now. The future is promised to no one”. His quote gives promise to many students at graduation.

U.S. Humorist, Erma Bombeck once said, “Graduation day is tough for adults. They go to the ceremony as parents. They come home as contemporaries. After twenty-two years of child-raising, they are unemployed” and this is true of parents.

Orrin Hatch, US Senator once said, “There is a good reason they call these ceremonies ‘commencement exercises’. Graduation is not the end, it’s the beginning”. There are many reasons graduates should remember this quote. However, they’ll likely never realize its true meaning until they are adults with children of their own embarking on their graduation commencement exercises.

Gambling writer, Suzie Sinclair said, “I graduated from high school, became a lifelong college student and found the best life lessons, along with a lot of arithmetic can be learned in a casino. The knowledge found there teaches people a lot of things. However, you may not want to learn what the casino is willing to teach”.

Graduation day is a time of joy, reflection and happiness. Graduates now have a lifetime to leave behind and a lifetime in front of them. They should never be completely content to leave one for the other or to look to one without remembering the other.
